Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has urged northern Nigeria to address its current security challenges. Speaking at the graduation of 2,596 SSCGC trainees in Sokoto, Governor Mohammed expressed shame at the rising insecurity in the region.
Meanwhile, Governor Aliyu Sokoto pledged to end security challenges in Sokoto State by providing 30 Hilux patrol vehicles and 800 motorcycles to support operations against banditry and kidnappings in affected areas.
Governor Mohammed emphasized the need for urgent action to reverse the insecurity trend, noting the region's negative transformation from a gateway of commerce to a hub of terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping.
Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, commended governors' efforts in addressing the security threat and advocated for a Trust Fund to sustain quasi-security forces in the region.
Former governor Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko stressed the importance of security in development, urging the new guards to exhibit dedication and patriotism.
Trainer of the Corps, Major General Junaidu Sani Bindawa (rtd), highlighted the rigorous training of the graduates in community policing and emphasized the need for technology-driven operations against insurgency.
