Governor Fubara Claims Full Governance of Rivers State Commenced in February 2024

Fubara

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State revealed on Tuesday that he only began governing the state fully in February 2024, despite assuming office in May of the previous year. Fubara stated that he did not start making decisions until February this year, which was eight months after assuming office. He made these remarks during the inauguration of Egbeda internal roads in the Emohua Local Government Area.

Fubara highlighted that since he began fully confronting governance in February, he has achieved significant progress and earned the commendation of the people. However, he did not provide reasons for the delayed start of his governance. His administration has been marked by a political crisis with his predecessor and estranged political godfather, Nyesom Wike, which has led to challenges such as an impeachment plot and resignations within his cabinet.

Despite the challenges, Fubara assured the people of the state of quality projects and emphasized his commitment to delivering effective governance. He stated, “Rivers State would have experienced something different from regular governance. I know why I said four months. We started full governance in February 2024. That was when we started taking decisions, when we started confronting governance."

Fubara also highlighted his government's commitment to transparency, stating that all his activities are documented in his white paper. He emphasized the importance of record-keeping in government and expressed confidence in his ability to provide records of his activities when called upon.
