Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has dismissed viral reports claiming that a delegation from the Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) and former President Olusegun Obasanjo visited him at the Government House over the weekend.
A statement from Fubara's Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, clarified that there was no such visit and that the reports were baseless and part of a misleading narrative. The statement stated, "There was no such visit by any delegation of PANDEF to Governor Fubara, nor did Chief Obasanjo visit him as claimed."
The governor's office described the reports as an attempt by detractors to create confusion, emphasizing that these narratives had no basis in fact. It also reaffirmed the governor’s commitment to fully implementing the Supreme Court’s judgment on the ongoing political crisis in the state. The statement further noted that while the governor has been proactive in ensuring compliance with the Court's directives, the Rivers State House of Assembly has refused to cooperate in resolving the issues raised by the Supreme Court.
Governor Fubara remains committed to ensuring the smooth functioning of all arms of government in the state, the statement concluded.
