Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has inaugurated the 17 newly elected local government chairmen following their victory in Saturday's elections. During the swearing-in ceremony held on Monday, Otti urged the chairmen to embrace the "Abia First" vision and actively contribute to the socio-economic transformation of the state.
The chairmen, predominantly from the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) with two from the Young Progressives Party (YPP), received Certificates of Return from the Abia State Electoral Commission (ABSIEC) on Sunday. Governor Otti emphasized that they should prioritize essential services such as access to clean water, healthcare, education, road maintenance, and security in their respective LGAs.
"I expect measurable improvements in our communities within the next six months," Otti remarked, calling on the new leaders to focus on improving living conditions, especially for women, youth, and vulnerable groups.
