Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State addressed the challenging times faced by Nigerians, emphasizing that the current situation was not anticipated. Speaking at the opening of the Oyo State International Trade Fair, themed “EXPOYO 2024”, Makinde acknowledged that things are not progressing as planned.

Focusing on the theme, “Showcasing the Economic Potentials of Oyo State Through Agriculture, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises,” Makinde expressed concern over the current state of affairs. Despite the challenges, he encouraged resilience and a proactive approach, highlighting that opportunities often arise during difficult times.

Makinde stressed the importance of collective efforts to rebuild the economy, emphasizing the need to prioritize export over import substitution. He called for a shift in mindset, advocating for the showcasing of Nigeria's production capabilities and Oyo State's economic potential.
