Governor Uba Sani has approved the recruitment of 1,800 new staff to address personnel shortages across Primary Health Care (PHC) facilities in Kaduna State. This move is part of a broader effort to strengthen the state's commitment to improving healthcare delivery, particularly in the area of primary health services.

In a statement issued by the Commissioner of Health, Hajiya Umma Ahmad, on Thursday, it was revealed that this recruitment will directly address human resource gaps, with the aim of significantly reducing maternal and child mortality rates, while enhancing the overall well-being of Kaduna’s citizens.

Hajiya Umma further explained that the recruitment is part of the ongoing revitalization of 255 PHC facilities across the state, which includes the provision of state-of-the-art medical equipment and the distribution of essential drugs. The state is committed to upgrading these facilities to provide better healthcare services to the public.

The Health Commissioner also highlighted that all 255 PHC centers will be remodelled and upgraded to Level 2 status under the current administration. These upgraded facilities will offer a range of essential services, including the management of uncomplicated diabetes and hypertension, resuscitation of severe asthma cases, assisted deliveries, and more.

Governor Uba Sani’s administration has prioritized the health sector since taking office on May 29, 2023, focusing on improvements that will better serve the people of Kaduna State.
