Governor Uba Sani Urges Unity at Kaduna 2025 Christmas Carol

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, on Sunday called on residents to embrace unity and peaceful coexistence as he joined Christians in the state for the 2025 Unity Christmas Carol.

The event, organised by the Christian Association of Nigeria in partnership with the state government, took place at the Umaru Yar’Adua Conference Centre in Kaduna and attracted Christian leaders, government officials and worshippers from across the state.

The programme featured prayers for peace and development, alongside performances of Christmas songs by various church choirs.

Speaking at the event, Sani said his presence was in keeping with a pledge he made in 2024 to attend subsequent editions of the Christmas carol throughout his tenure.

“This is the third time I am sharing in this sacred moment with the Christian family in our dear state,” he said.

The governor noted that faith remains one of the strongest tools for promoting unity, healing and collective progress in society. He described Christmas as more than a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, saying it symbolises values such as love, sacrifice, humility, compassion and selfless service.

“These virtues cut across religious boundaries and speak to our shared humanity. Christmas calls on us not only to celebrate, but to live better lives — as neighbours, leaders and citizens,” he said.

Sani explained that he attended the programme out of “choice, conviction and commitment,” adding that such gatherings renew hope and strengthen common values among the people.

Commending religious leaders and Christians in Kaduna State, the governor praised their role in sustaining peace and stability.

“In moments of tension, you chose restraint over reaction, dialogue over division, unity over suspicion and peace over provocation,” he said, adding that these choices were helping to build a more secure and harmonious future.

He described the hosting of the Christmas Carol as a symbol of openness, inclusion and progress, and urged Kaduna to continue serving as an example of peaceful coexistence.

Reaffirming his commitment to inclusive governance, Sani said, “From my first day in office on May 29, 2023, I vowed to serve all the people of Kaduna State, regardless of faith, ethnicity or political affiliation.”

Highlighting achievements of his administration, the governor said 85 roads spanning 785 kilometres had been completed or were nearing completion in the first phase of road projects, while more than 50 additional roads and bridges covering over 550 kilometres had been launched in the second phase.

He also disclosed that 255 Primary Health Care Centres had been upgraded to Level Two status, a3  specialist hospital named after President Bola Tinubu had been commissioned, and that agriculture now receives more than 10 per cent of the state’s annual budget.
