Dr. Henry Akinduro, CEO of Global Signature Hotel and Total Grace Group Limited, has filed a N5 billion lawsuit against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for declaring him wanted without due judicial process. The EFCC's decision stems from fraud allegations made by Mr. Femi Olushakin.
Akinduro's legal team, led by Olakekan Ojo (SAN), argued that the accusations are baseless, claiming the dispute is purely a civil and contractual matter related to an investment agreement between Akinduro and Olushakin. The businessman had already taken legal steps in a civil lawsuit (Suit No: I/875/2024) prior to the EFCC's actions, contesting Olushakin's demands for investment returns.
In his suit, Akinduro accused the EFCC of violating his fundamental human rights by acting without a court order and using state resources to harass him. He maintains his innocence and has emphasized his commitment to resolving the matter through the judicial system, where he expects to be vindicated. His legal team condemned the EFCC’s public declaration as damaging to his reputation, stressing that the allegations against him are unfounded and aimed at sabotaging his business interests.
Akinduro reiterated his confidence in the court's ability to deliver a fair judgment on the civil dispute, affirming that the case is not of a criminal nature.
