House of Representatives Mourns the Death of Pa Suleiman Atanda Obasa, Declares Jigawa Seat Vacant

The House of Representatives has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Pa Suleiman Atanda Obasa, father of Lagos Speaker Hon. Mudashiru Obasa. Pa Atanda passed away early Tuesday morning and was laid to rest according to Islamic rites.

The sad news was brought to the House by Hon. Hammed Adewale, who represents the Agege federal constituency of Lagos State. In his letter, Hon. Adewale described the late Obasa as a loving family man, a community leader, and a successful businessman.

In honor of Pa Atanda, the House observed a one-minute silence and offered prayers for the repose of his soul.

Additionally, the House declared the Babura/Garki federal constituency seat of Jigawa State vacant following the death of Hon. Isa Dogonyaro. Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu announced the vacancy during Tuesday’s plenary session, in accordance with section 68(2) of the 1999 Constitution as amended.
