The House of Representatives has passed a bill mandating the nation to revert to the old National Anthem, “Nigeria We Hail Thee.” Sponsored by the leader of the House, Julius Ihonvbare, the bill was presented for a second reading on Thursday, May 23. It was subsequently considered by the committee of the whole, approved, and read for the third time.
The bill will now proceed to the Senate for concurrence. If approved by the Senate, it will be sent to the president for assent, bringing the old anthem back into official use.
