“I Quit to Fight Tinubu in 2027” — Ex-Presidential Aide Declares War on Former Boss

Former Senior Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Public Affairs, Aliyu Audu, has openly declared his intention to work against Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, revealing this was the reason behind his recent resignation from the administration.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Monday, Audu made it clear that Nigeria’s next presidential election will not be about one man’s ambition but a collective national interest.

“2027 is no longer about ‘Emi lo kan’ — it’s ‘Gbogbo wa lo kan’,” Audu stated, referencing Tinubu’s now-famous Yoruba phrase meaning “It’s my turn,” which was central to his 2023 campaign. The new phrase translates as: “It’s all of our turn.”

Audu’s comments have sent political ripples across the country, as he becomes one of the first former presidential insiders to break ranks and publicly oppose the re-election of the man he once served.

Although he did not explicitly endorse any opposition party, Audu’s sharp rhetoric suggests that internal dissent within the Tinubu camp may be simmering ahead of the 2027 race.

The former aide’s bold stance is expected to ignite debate over loyalty, national interest, and internal party democracy, especially as the ruling APC continues to consolidate its grip on power.
