IG Orders Nationwide Security Boost for Eid-el-Fitr Celebrations

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has directed a nationwide deployment of tactical units to safeguard lives and property during the Eid-el-Fitr festivities.

In a statement on Friday, the police spokesperson, Anthony Placid, said the IG also extended warm Eid greetings to Muslim faithful across Nigeria, congratulating them on the successful completion of Ramadan.

Disu instructed Commissioners of Police and Tactical Commanders in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to implement robust security measures. These include the strategic positioning of tactical teams, intelligence operatives, and the Special Intervention Squad at Eid prayer grounds, highways, motor parks, recreational centres, and other critical locations.
