Igboho Raises Alarm Over Killing of Three Farmers in Oyo Community

Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, widely known as Sunday Igboho, has raised fresh concerns over worsening insecurity in Oyo State following the killing of three farmers in Igboho, his hometown in Orelope Local Government Area.

In a statement released on Monday in Ibadan, Adeyemo revealed that the victims—Aderoju Mukaila, Olawuwo Saka and Ojeniyi Ojebayo—were attacked by gunmen and later died from their injuries despite being rushed to the hospital.

Describing the incident as heartbreaking and avoidable, Igboho called on President Bola Tinubu and the Federal Government to urgently address the growing insecurity in rural communities across Oyo State and the wider South-West region.

“On Sunday, three innocent people were killed in my town, Igboho. This is what I have been warning about for years. Nothing has changed, and our people are still being attacked while those responsible walk free,” he said.

He expressed frustration over what he described as the government’s failure to act decisively despite repeated warnings about criminal activities in the area. According to him, armed men and bandits have increasingly infiltrated rural settlements and forests across the South-West, as well as parts of Kwara and Kogi states.

Adeyemo urged security agencies to step up efforts in the Oke-Ogun axis to protect lives and property, warning that residents are reaching a breaking point.

“The victims and their families are in deep pain, and the patience of the people is wearing thin. The government must act now before communities are pushed into defending themselves,” he cautioned.

He also called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of those behind the attacks, stressing the need for security agencies to act on credible intelligence to prevent further bloodshed.

The latest incident has heightened fears in the region, coming amid a rise in violent attacks and kidnappings in parts of northern Nigeria. Recent cases in Kwara and Kogi states, which border the South-West, have further raised concerns and reportedly led to an emergency security meeting among governorszone.qhe zone.
