IGP Deploys DIG, 17 Commissioners to Strategic Police Commands Nationwide

The Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has approved the deployment of Deputy Inspector-General of Police Mohammed Usaini Gumel and 17 Commissioners of Police to key departments, commands and formations across the country.

The development was announced in a statement shared on Tuesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, via the Nigerian Police Force’s official X handle. According to the statement, the redeployments are aimed at strengthening operational capacity, enhancing leadership effectiveness, improving public safety and boosting service delivery nationwide.

Under the new arrangement, DIG Mohammed Usaini Gumel has been posted to head the Force Intelligence Department (FID). Among the state command postings, CP Aina Adesola has been deployed to Delta State, CP Umar Mohammed Hajedia to Kebbi State, and CP Iyamah Daniel Edobor to Bayelsa State Police Command.

Other deployments include CP Osagie John Agans-Irabor to the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit at the FCID Annex in Lagos; CP Johnson Ayodeji Babalola to the Special Enquiries Bureau, FCID, Abuja; and CP Adepegba K. Adetoye to the Marine Unit at Force Headquarters, Abuja. CP Tabitha Bako and CP Umar Ali Fagge have been posted as Deputy Commandants of the Police Colleges in Kaduna and Ikeja respectively.

Also affected are CP Audu Garba Bosso, now with General Investigation at the FCID Annex in Kaduna; CP Edwin Esiunnoh Ogbeghagha to Community Policing at Force Headquarters, Abuja; CP Arikpo Ofem Ikpi to the Investment Office under the Department of Logistics and Supply, Force Headquarters; and CP Cyril Uchenna Obiozo to the Maritime Command in Lagos.

Further postings include CP Samuel Yerima as Coordinator of Courses at the Police Staff College, Jos; CP Alhaji Mohammed Danlandi to the X-Squad, FCID Annex, Kaduna; CP Richard Bala Gara to the Inspectorate under the Department of Training and Development, Force Headquarters; CP Lasisi A. Titilola to the Railway Command in Lagos; and CP Obuagbaka C. John to the Safer Highway unit under the Department of Operations at Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The Inspector-General of Police charged all the deployed officers to bring their wealth of experience to bear in their new roles, provide result-driven leadership, uphold professionalism and integrity, and ensure strict adherence to the rule of law in the discharge of their duties.
