The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun has approved the promotion of 10,581 junior officers of the Inspectorate Cadre, as well as the Rank and File. The Deputy Inspector-General of Police overseeing the Department of Finance and Administration (DIG DFA) has been assigned to collaborate with the Commissioner of Police (Welfare) to ensure the prompt commencement of the promotion process.
According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the promotions include 9,831 Police Constables being promoted to the rank of Corporal, 81 Corporals advancing to the rank of Sergeant, and 669 officers progressing from the rank of Sergeants to Inspectors. The IGP emphasized the commitment of the Force leadership to promoting meritocracy and career advancement, highlighting the importance of timely promotions in boosting officer morale and improving the Force's overall effectiveness.
Egbetokun stated that these promotions are fundamental to sustaining the ongoing manpower development initiatives of the Nigeria Police Force. He reassured that promotions within the Force will be based solely on merit. Adejobi added, "The Nigeria Police Force extends its heartfelt congratulations to all officers slated for promotion and urges them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and service to the nation."
