The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, on Monday decorated 28 newly promoted senior officers in a ceremony held at the Goodluck Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
According to a statement by Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the promotions included 12 Commissioners of Police (CPs) elevated to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), and 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) promoted to CP. The elevations were recently approved by the Police Service Commission, following recommendations by the IGP.
In his address, Egbetokun described the promotions as part of a sweeping welfare and reform package under his leadership, noting that the Force had witnessed the “fastest and most extensive wave of promotions” in its history.
“These promotions are not just a recognition of past achievements but a call to greater service,” Egbetokun stated. “As leaders, you must remain committed to innovation, ethical conduct, and professional excellence.”
