Imo State Graduate Takes Own Life After Village Labor, Leaves Community in Shock

A 30-year-old graduate of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede in Imo State, Nerus Elemamba, has tragically taken his own life. His body was discovered hanging in his room on Monday evening in Umuohii, Oboama community, Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State. Elemamba allegedly committed suicide after participating in the day’s village manual labor.

According to a source familiar with the situation, Elemamba, who studied Architecture, did not exhibit any signs of depression. The source stated, "Nerus was from Umuohii Village in Oboama Ezinihitte Mbaise Imo State. He took his own life yesterday (Monday) evening. The reason for his action is unknown to anybody."

Another source mentioned that Elemamba did not leave a suicide note. The village youth leader, Iheukwumere Ibeh, expressed shock over the incident, noting that the villagers were unaware of any reasons behind Elemamba's actions. The victim has since been buried after the necessary cultural rituals were performed.

When contacted, the police spokesperson in the state, Henry Okoye, stated that he had not yet been briefed on the incident.
