He also announced the publication of the final list of candidates for the Edo State Governorship election, following the conclusion of party primaries and the withdrawal/substitution period.

Campaign activities in Edo State began on April 24th, 2024, and will end on September 19th, 2024, as stipulated by law. Prof. Yakubu emphasized the importance of maintaining law and order during the electioneering process. Meanwhile, in Ondo State, eighteen political parties conducted primaries monitored by INEC, with a deadline of May 20th, 2024, for candidate nominations.

The CVR in both states will take place from May 27th to June 5th, 2024, from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm daily, including weekends. Registration will be conducted at 192 Ward centres in Edo State and 203 centres in Ondo State, as well as at State offices in Benin City and Akure.
