Members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) attacked Umunze Police Station in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State, killing two policemen. The incident occurred around 10 am as the group attempted to enforce the Monday sit-at-home order in the community.
Joint Security Forces, including the Military, Police, Navy, Civil Defence, and local vigilance groups, recovered five unexploded bombs from the scene. The attack involved the use of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), which set part of the police station on fire.

While initial reports from eyewitnesses claimed three officers were killed and several injured, police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed two fatalities. He also stated that the security forces are actively pursuing the attackers.
The assailants fled after the assault, and the security forces are continuing efforts to capture members of the armed secessionist group responsible for the violence.
