Iran Heads to Pakistan for Key Talks with U.S. Over Middle East Tensions

An Iranian delegation is set to arrive in Islamabad late Thursday as part of renewed diplomatic efforts to ease tensions in the Middle East through talks with the United States.

The discussions, being facilitated by Pakistan, are expected to involve senior officials from both sides, with the White House indicating that Vice President JD Vance will lead the American delegation during the negotiations scheduled for the weekend.

Iran’s ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, confirmed the development, noting that the delegation would engage in “serious talks” based on a 10-point proposal earlier put forward by Tehran.

He acknowledged ongoing concerns about repeated ceasefire violations involving Israel, but said Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had welcomed the initiative as a step toward dialogue.

Preparations in Islamabad have intensified ahead of the high-level meeting. Authorities have declared temporary public holidays in parts of the capital, a move often associated with heightened security arrangements during major diplomatic engagements.

Officials clarified that essential services, including healthcare, security, and utilities, will remain fully operational, while residents have been advised to plan their movements accordingly.

The upcoming talks are seen as a crucial opportunity to de-escalate tensions and explore possible pathways toward a more lasting agreement between the two sides.
