The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has instructed all Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre owners to apprehend any parent found near their facilities during the 2024 UTME exercise. This directive, issued during the final briefing of CBT centre owners on April 17, 2024, aims to address the intrusive behavior of some parents during past Board exercises.

According to Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, the Registrar, any parent who violates this order will not only be arrested but their ward will also be disqualified from the examination. Oloyede emphasized that candidates must be at least 17 years old, as per the national education policy, and parents should not attempt to influence examination officials by accompanying their underage children to the exam venue.

The Board stressed the importance of candidates safeguarding their personal information, including email addresses, registration, and phone numbers. This cautionary advice comes in response to the risk of candidates falling victim to fraudulent websites. JAMB warned that candidates found to have shared their personal details with such sites would be considered accomplices and face prosecution.
