Jigawa Assembly Approves N58bn Supplementary Budget

The JigawaJigawa Assembly Approves N58bn Supplementary Budget
State House of Assembly has passed a N58 billion supplementary budget for the 2025 fiscal year, raising the state’s total appropriation to N756.3 billion.

The approval followed the adoption of a report by the House Committee on Appropriations during plenary on Thursday.

Presenting the report, committee chairman Ibrahim Hamza-Adamu explained that the supplementary spending plan was necessitated by additional revenue expected from the federation account.

“The 2025 Appropriation Law approved N698.3 billion for recurrent and capital expenditure. With the supplementary N58 billion, the total now stands at N756.3 billion,” he said.

Hamza-Adamu urged lawmakers to strengthen oversight to ensure judicious use of the funds.

The motion, presided over by Deputy Speaker Sani Isiyaku, was unanimously adopted by members.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the Assembly had earlier passed the N689.3 billion 2025 budget on December 31, 2024. Tagged “Budget of Innovation and Transformation for Greater Jigawa,” it allocated N90.7 billion for personnel costs, N70 billion for recurrent expenditure, and N537 billion for capital projects.

Lawmakers also approved N17 billion for the 27 local government areas of the state.
