Julius Abure, the embattled National Chairman of the Labour Party, is heading a delegation to a meeting with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) alongside leaders of other political parties. The meeting, part of INEC's regular quarterly consultative forum, aims to discuss developments within the polity and plans for future elections.
Following the National Convention that reaffirmed Abure as the party's National Chairman, INEC stated that it did not monitor the exercise as required by the Electoral Act, sparking speculations that it might not recognize him as the National Chairman. The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has been in a battle of supremacy with the Abure-led faction, insisting that Abure's tenure has expired and he is no longer the National Chairman.
