Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani Approves New Minimum Wage of N72,000 and Launches Free Transport Scheme for Civil Servants

Kaduna

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has announced a new minimum wage of N72,000 for civil servants, effective from November 2024. This decision, disclosed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Malam Ibraheem Musa, is part of the administration’s efforts to prioritize the welfare of civil servants, improve living conditions, and support low-income and vulnerable communities across the state.

The move aligns with Governor Sani's commitment to advancing workers' rights and welfare. The administration is also set to launch a Free Transport Scheme for civil servants, which will feature 100 CNG-powered buses to provide reliable transportation to and from work. Managed by a Joint Committee comprising representatives from the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), and the state government, the initiative aims to reduce financial stress for workers and enhance productivity.

“The governor's policies focus on uplifting the less privileged and making Kaduna State a model for social welfare programs with the support of its citizens,” Musa added.
