Alhaji Muhammad Umar, previously the district head of Bankure, is now the emir of Rano, covering Rano, Bunkure, and Kibiya local government areas. Alhaji Aliyu Abdulkadir, the former emir of the abolished Gaya emirate, has been named the second-class emir of Gaya, which encompasses Gaya, Albasu, and Ajingi local government areas.

These second-class emirs will report to the first-class emir of Kano, ensuring a hierarchical structure within the state's traditional institutions. The law creating these emirates was sponsored by Deputy Speaker Muhammad Bututu and passed by the Assembly in a session presided over by Speaker Jibrin Falgore.

Governor Yusuf, while congratulating the newly appointed emirs, emphasized their role in serving humanity and preserving cultural heritage. "This development underscores our unwavering commitment to preserving our traditional institutions and cultural heritage, recognizing them as essential pillars of peace and heritage conservation," he stated.
