The Kano State Police Command has announced the full enforcement of the state government’s ban on carrying passengers on all motorcycles, as well as restrictions on commercial tricycles operating between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. daily.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna.
According to the statement, the police, working with other security agencies, will strictly uphold the existing laws regulating motorcycles and tricycles across affected Local Government Areas including Kano Municipal, Gwale, Dala, Fagge, Nassarawa, Tarauni, Kumbotso, Ungogo (Jido Area), and Dawakin Kudu (Tambuwal, Gurjiya, and Jido Ward).
Haruna noted that enforcement teams have been empowered to identify, arrest, and prosecute anyone who violates the regulations. He said this measure will help curb the spread of misinformation and protect residents from avoidable security threats.
“The Command wishes to remind motorcycle and tricycle operators that these measures aim to enhance public safety and security across the state,” he added.
The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, urged residents to cooperate with security agencies and comply with the regulations to maintain peace and order. The public has also been encouraged to report violations or suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through emergency lines.

The security collaboration—also involving the Kano Road and Traffic Agency—will intensify efforts to ensure complete compliance with the directives.
The renewed enforcement comes amid increased security concerns in the state, including recent attacks and kidnappings in some communities where several victims were rescued by security forces.
