Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Ododo, has expressed condolences to the families of the victims of the Obajana accident. The tragic incident, which occurred on Sunday night, claimed the lives of 13 bus passengers and left two others injured. The Federal Road Safety Corps reported on Monday that 13 persons died and 21 were injured in separate auto crashes in Kogi and Benue states.
The Kogi FRSC Sector Commander, Samuel Oyedeji, disclosed that the accident in Kogi happened around 7:30 pm on Sunday. It involved a commercial Sharon bus and an articulated cement truck, near Obajana Market on the Obajana-Lokoja Road in the Lokoja Local Government Area.
Governor Ododo, who received a report of the accident upon his return to Lokoja on Monday, expressed deep sorrow over the incident. He assured the families of the victims that the state government would stand by them in their time of mourning.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, Governor Ododo emphasized the need for caution, urging people to avoid night travel. He also commended emergency management services for their swift response to the accident.
