KWARA – The Kwara State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commandant Bala Bawa Bodinga, has approved the deployment of 2,350 operatives to protect critical national assets and ensure the safety of residents during the upcoming Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
The Public Relations Officer of the Kwara Command, Ayoola Michael, disclosed the deployment in a statement to the press on Tuesday, noting that the personnel will cover all sixteen local government areas of the state. The officers will be drawn from specialised units, including the Armed Squad, Operational Harmony, Counter-Terrorism Unit, Anti-Vandal Unit, and the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive Unit.
Michael explained that the operation is guided by credible intelligence and threat mapping, with priority given to flashpoints, high-risk corridors, and sensitive locations to ensure maximum effectiveness.
Area Commanders and Divisional Officers have been directed to maintain aggressive patrols, strengthen surveillance, and implement proactive response measures within their areas of responsibility.
Commandant Bodinga emphasized that the NSCDC will work closely with other security agencies, local vigilantes, and community members to ensure rapid response and comprehensive safety throughout the festive period.

While congratulating Muslims on completing Ramadan, the Commandant urged residents to remain vigilant and support security efforts by promptly reporting any suspicious activities. He also warned that anyone attempting to disrupt public peace during the festival would be dealt with decisively.
Eid-el-Fitr, marking the end of the 30-day Ramadan fast, is celebrated with communal prayers, feasts, charity, and family visits, beginning on the first day of Shawwal following the sighting of the new moon.
