Lagos Announces 90-Day Traffic Diversion on Odo Iya Alaro Bridge Starting July 22

Lagos

The Lagos State Government has declared a 90-day traffic diversion for motorists on the Odo Iya Alaro Bridge, commencing Monday, July 22, 2024. Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, stated that the diversion is necessary due to the deteriorating asphalt pavement and expansion joints on the bridge.

The traffic diversion will be implemented in two phases. In the first phase, motorists heading to Ojota from Maryland/Yaba will use a counterflow lane, while those going to Yaba from Ojota will remain on the same lane. Alternative routes have been designated, including Alapere/Ogudu axis for motorists from Berger, Magodo, and Tollgate, and Opebi Link Bridge for those from Ikeja, Oregun, and Kudirat Abiola Way.

In the second phase, motorists traveling towards Maryland/Yaba from Ojota will use a counterflow lane inbound Ojota, while those from Maryland will continue on the same lane. Alternative routes for this phase are similar to the first phase, with additional options for motorists from Ikorodu/Ketu and other areas.

Mr. Osiyemi urged the public to cooperate with the traffic management measures and assured that personnel would be deployed to ensure smooth traffic flow during the repair period.
