The Lagos State Police Command has announced the arrest of over fifty suspects linked to the recent crisis that erupted in the Ile-Epo area of the state. The clashes, which occurred between local youths and hoodlums in the market area, resulted in injuries to many individuals, as well as the destruction of shops and goods.

The crisis, which began on Wednesday night and extended into Thursday morning, saw a fire service truck being pelted with stones when it attempted to drive into the market. However, prompt intervention by the police helped to contain the situation and restore normalcy.

In a statement, Lagos Police spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrests and the demolition of makeshift shelters belonging to the suspects. He stated that the police, led by the DPO Oke-Odo, swiftly responded to the scene and quelled the disturbances.

The Commissioner of Police, Adegoke Fayoade, has directed the prompt prosecution of the arrested suspects, emphasizing the police's commitment to upholding the rule of law. Fayoade warned that any further attempts to disrupt the peace would be met with decisive action within legal boundaries.

The presence of the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Operations), Area Commander Alagbado, and other Divisional Police Officers in the area remains vigilant to prevent any potential resurgence of disorder.
