Lagos State will officially begin regulated bus operations on the Lekki–Epe corridor on December 8, introducing 229 high- and medium-capacity buses in the first phase of the Lekki–Epe Bus Reform Scheme.
The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) announced the development on Tuesday, noting that the new system will bring fully regulated, government-supervised bus services to major routes such as Ajah–CMS/Marina, Ajah–Obalende, Ajah–Oshodi, Ajah–Berger, and Ajah–Iyana Ipaja.
To ensure wide coverage, one operator will run an express service, while others will operate stage-by-stage stops. The buses will carry Lagos’ standard blue-and-white colours and will be equipped with QR-enabled PTCS stickers, unique identification codes, and Touch and Pay (TAP) stickers for easier payments.

LAMATA said the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, along with representatives of informal transport operators, has concluded the final stakeholder meeting ahead of the launch.
The agency added that this first phase—deploying 229 buses—will eventually be extended to Epe. It emphasized that the scheme is designed to improve safety, comfort, and discipline across the corridor, offering commuters a more dependable and secure travel experience.
The new routes will cover Ajah–CMS (Marina)/Obalende, Ajah–Oshodi, Ajah–Berger, and Ajah–Iyana Ipaja, with all buses operating under strict regulatory standards to enhance overall service delivery.
