The Libyan Football Federation is in a state of panic after being asked by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to provide documents regarding the canceled AFCON qualifying Group D match against Nigeria. The Super Eagles had refused to play after their plane was diverted to Labraq Airport, where they were held for 18 hours without food and water.
According to Libya Al-Ahrar Channel, Nasser Al-Suwaie, Secretary-General of the Libyan FA, confirmed that CAF has given both the Libyan and Nigerian football associations until the 20th of this month to submit their reports on the incident. Al-Suwaie suggested potential collusion within CAF but maintained that Libya’s position remains strong.

Al-Suwaie clarified that the decision to divert the Nigerian team's plane to Al-Abraq Airport was made by the Libyan state, not the football federation, and urged all parties to respect Libya’s sovereignty.
The Super Eagles, who returned to Nigeria on Monday, recounted their ordeal, with team manager Patrick Pascal revealing that Libyan officials deliberately sabotaged airport facilities in anticipation of their arrival. The team had to sleep on the airport floor in harsh conditions.
