Aiyedatiwa

Lucky Aiyedatiwa has officially been sworn in as the Governor of Ondo State, marking the start of his first full four-year term following his victory in the governorship election held two months ago.

The swearing-in ceremony took place on Monday, February 24, 2025, at the Ondo State Sports Complex in Akure, the state capital.

Aiyedatiwa, who had been serving as acting governor since December 2023 after the death of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, secured his mandate under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the recent election.

A New Era for Ondo State

Addressing the crowd at the inauguration ceremony, Aiyedatiwa expressed gratitude to the people of Ondo State and promised to continue the developmental strides of his late predecessor.

He emphasized his administration’s commitment to:

  • Infrastructure development
  • Improved healthcare and education
  • Boosting economic growth and job creation
  • Strengthening security across the state

The event was attended by top political leaders, traditional rulers, party supporters, and dignitaries from across the country.

From Deputy to Governor

Aiyedatiwa’s rise to the governorship followed a turbulent period in Ondo politics after Akeredolu’s prolonged illness and eventual passing in December 2023. As his former deputy, Aiyedatiwa stepped in as acting governor before securing the APC ticket and winning the governorship race.

His victory solidifies APC’s hold on the state, and his tenure is expected to be closely watched as he navigates governance and political expectations.
