The Army, in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser, has successfully rescued 17 Tsangaya pupils abducted by bandits in Gada Local Government about two weeks ago. The military presented the rescued children and a lady to Sokoto Governor, Dr. Ahmed Aliyu, as confirmed by a statement from the Press Secretary Abubakar Bawa.
During a brief occasion to receive the rescued victims, Governor Aliyu commended the Military and the Office of the National Security Adviser for successfully rescuing the abducted children. He announced that all the rescued children had undergone medical examination to ascertain their health condition. "All the children have been found healthy and are ready to be reunited with their parents," he added.
Governor Aliyu also announced a donation of two bags of grains and N100,000 to each of the rescued abductees. He urged the people of the state to continue supporting the present administration in its quest to fully secure the state.
The Governor stressed the need for people to cooperate with security operatives, especially on credible intelligence gathering, to curb banditry and other crimes in the state. Gen. Tawasimi, the Garrison Commander 8 Div. Nigerian Army Sokoto, commended the Governor for his unflinching support to the military, especially in ridding the state of banditry. He restated the Army's commitment to making Sokoto a secured place and appealed for more support from the public.
