The Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Ali Pate, has assured Nigerians that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is deeply aware of the challenges facing the nation and is working relentlessly to implement lasting solutions.

Prof. Pate made this statement during the quarterly Review Meeting of the Traditional Leaders’ Committee on Primary Healthcare Delivery, held at the Government House in Bauchi. The meeting saw the attendance of traditional rulers from the 19 northern states.

“President Tinubu knows what Nigerians are going through. He feels the pain, he cares, and he is working day and night to ease the suffering. His main focus is on how we can improve the living conditions of our people,” Pate said.

The minister acknowledged the economic challenges stemming from the administration’s reforms, stressing that while the adjustments have been tough, their long-term benefits will ultimately outweigh the sacrifices Nigerians are currently making. “Yes, there have been difficulties, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. After hardship comes relief,” he added.

Pate highlighted ongoing efforts in critical sectors such as health and education. He revealed that 8,800 primary healthcare centers across the country now receive funding through the Basic Care Provision Fund, with 4,000 centers undergoing revitalization.

“This work cannot be done by the president alone,” Pate stressed. “State and local governments, alongside traditional and community leaders, must work together to achieve the Nigeria we all desire.”

Governor Bala Mohammed, in his remarks, praised President Tinubu’s efforts while emphasizing the need for closer collaboration between federal and state governments.

Reiterating his administration’s commitment to the Abuja Declaration, Mohammed noted that Bauchi State has allocated 15 percent of its budget to the health sector. He commended traditional and religious leaders for their role in the establishment of over 300 primary healthcare centers across the state.

Governor Mohammed also extended special recognition to the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, for mobilizing traditional rulers to raise health awareness within communities.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Ibrahim Mohammed Kashim, the governor stated, “We appreciate our traditional leaders for their grassroots mobilization and awareness campaigns. This is how we can truly reach the people and improve their lives.”

As Nigerians continue to endure the effects of ongoing reforms, the government has called for patience, unity, and collective action to bring about relief and long-term national development.
