As nationwide protests erupted on Thursday, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, was seen at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. Our correspondent observed Wike, the former Rivers State governor, arriving in a black Toyota Prado SUV and entering the President's Office. Though the discussion's subject remained undisclosed, it is believed to be related to the hunger protests that began in the FCT.

Massive demonstrations filled the central business district and suburbs of the FCT, with security officials using tear gas to disperse crowds. Despite the tension, Wike indicated the Federal Government's openness to dialogue with the protesters during a ceremony for newly coronated Chiefs in Abuja.

Commending the peaceful protesters, Wike emphasized the importance of dialogue, stating, “It’s better to have a dialogue and iron out issues with the government.” He called on traditional rulers to help maintain peace and convey accurate information about government efforts to their communities.

Highlighting Abuja as the "nation’s centre of unity," Wike urged collaboration for progress under President Bola Tinubu's administration. He expressed confidence in significant changes, urging patience and unity to achieve common goals.
