Air strikes carried out by Nigerian Air Force (NAF) aircraft have resulted in the deaths of three terrorist leaders and 30 of their followers in Borno State. The strikes, conducted on April 13 at ISWAP hideouts in Kolleram village near Lake Chad, targeted Ali Dawud, Mallam Ari, and Bakurah Fallujah, along with their fighters. NAF spokesperson Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet reported the successful operation on Tuesday, April 16.
Gabkwet stated that the air strikes also destroyed numerous terrorist vehicles, motorcycles, and logistical assets. He added that intelligence gathered post-strike revealed the destruction of a key facility in the Kolleram enclave used for food processing, including grinding machines. The destruction of these logistics severely impeded the terrorists' operational capabilities.
The spokesperson emphasized NAF's commitment to eradicating terrorism and ensuring the safety of Nigerian citizens. By eliminating key terrorist figures and destroying their infrastructure, the operation significantly weakened ISWAP's presence in the region. These airstrikes complement the ground forces' efforts in the Lake Chad area and mark a significant advancement in Nigeria's fight against terrorism.
