The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says it has killed more than 15 terrorists and destroyed their hideout in a precision airstrike on the Sambisa Forest in Borno State.
In a statement on Thursday, NAF spokesperson Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame said the strike was executed on September 3, 2025, by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai.
The operation, which targeted an enclave west of Zuwa, followed intelligence and surveillance reports that identified the location as a hub for fighters and commanders linked to recent attacks around Bitta, Gwoza Local Government Area.
“The strikes proved devastating, neutralising over 15 terrorists and demolishing key structures critical to their operations,” Ejodame said. “This mission once again underscores the Nigerian Air Force’s precision, reach, and commitment in the fight against terrorism.”
He added that the successful operation had further degraded the insurgents’ operational capacity.
The Sambisa Forest has long served as a stronghold for Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters since the insurgency erupted in 2009. The Nigerian military has repeatedly targeted the area in efforts to weaken the terrorists’ presence.
The latest operation comes amid intensified counterterrorism campaigns in the North-East, where insurgency and banditry continue to displace millions and disrupt livelihoods.
