The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) launched a critical air interdiction mission on November 1, 2024, targeting terrorist strongholds within the Alawa Forest in Niger State’s Shiroro Local Government Area. This strategic operation aimed to protect power restoration efforts for Kaduna and other northwestern states, which have been affected by outages due to security challenges.
Acting on precise Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) findings, the air component observed terrorist fighters converging near critical infrastructure, likely planning to sabotage restoration progress. Swiftly, NAF deployed airstrikes, neutralizing several fighters and dismantling their logistical support.
To bolster security, NAF has ramped up armed reconnaissance along key power lines from Shiroro Lake to Damba. This initiative underscores NAF’s commitment to securing Nigeria’s power infrastructure, in collaboration with other security agencies, to ensure uninterrupted restoration of electricity in Kaduna and beyond.
