NAF, US Officials Review AH-1Z Attack Helicopter Progress

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has received assurance that the delivery dates for the AH-1Z attack helicopters remain on track. This confirmation came during the first Program Management Review (PMR) meeting held at NAF Headquarters on July 16, 2024, involving NAF representatives and officials from the US Government and Bell Textron Company.

The meeting, led by Air Vice Marshal Sayo Olatunde representing the Chief of the Air Staff, focused on reviewing the progress of the AH-1Z helicopter supply, ensuring a smooth transition, and providing technical guidance to NAF. This collaboration highlights the strong partnership between Nigeria and the US in enhancing Nigeria's air power capabilities.

Air Vice Marshal Olatunde emphasized that the AH-1Z helicopters will significantly boost NAF's close air support and ground attack capabilities, especially in counterterrorism and counterinsurgency operations. He noted that the impending delivery underscores NAF's modernization efforts and will enhance its operational effectiveness.
