The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has announced that its official website has been compromised by hackers. The bureau shared this update through its X handle on Wednesday, urging the public to disregard any information from the website until it is fully restored.
In a statement posted on X, the NBS assured citizens of ongoing efforts to regain control of the platform. The website, which serves as a vital resource for publishing statistics on Nigeria’s key sectors, is currently inaccessible.
The bureau wrote, “This is to inform the public that the NBS Website has been hacked and we are working to recover it. Please disregard any message or report posted until the website is fully restored. Thank you.”
As of Thursday morning, attempts to access the agency’s website, www.nigerianstat.gov.ng, were unsuccessful, with the page displaying a message: “The site can’t be reached.”
