NDLEA Busts Drug Shrine Guarded by Giant Snake

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) raided a shrine used to store illicit drugs in the Igor community of Benin City, Edo state. The shrine, guarded by a giant black snake, concealed a hidden storage with drugs behind wallpapers and fetish objects.

Operatives found 8.743 kilograms of various illicit substances, including methamphetamine and strong strains of cannabis like Loud, Colorado, and Arizona. Two women, Sonia Chinonso Ezumezu and Risikatu Tijani, were arrested during the operation on June 18, 2024, after the snake was neutralized.

In another operation, NDLEA agents arrested two men, Obi Ferguson and Ernest Abanum, in the Usen forest, Edo state, seizing 209 kilograms of cannabis and a motorcycle. Simultaneously, a consignment of 8.2 kilograms of methamphetamine was intercepted in Lagos, leading to the arrest of Michael Odiomume.

Additionally, NDLEA officers intercepted a vehicle loaded with 340.8 kilograms of cannabis in Abuja, arresting 76-year-old Francis Omofa. NDLEA's ongoing War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign continues with educational initiatives and social advocacy across the country.
