The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says it seized 1,396.5 kilograms of illicit drugs and arrested 150 suspects across Adamawa State in December 2025.
The state commander of the agency, Mr Aliyu Abubakar, disclosed this on Saturday in Yola during a news conference themed “Expose a Drug Dealer Today: Save the Future of Adamawa Youth.”
According to Abubakar, the seizures followed a series of coordinated, intelligence-driven operations carried out across the state, including at the airport, which led to the dismantling of several drug joints and the interception of large consignments of narcotics.
He said the drugs recovered included 353 kilograms of cannabis sativa, 983 kilograms of tramadol and 60.5 kilograms of other opioids.
The commander also revealed that two vehicles linked to suspected drug trafficking were seized during the operations.
Giving an account of the command’s activities, Abubakar said six convictions were secured, while 53 cases are currently pending in court. He added that 39 people arrested for drug abuse were counselled and rehabilitated.
Other achievements recorded in December include six War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitisation programmes, the forfeiture of valuables worth ₦163,170 to the Federal Government, and the destruction of one hectare of cannabis farmland in parts of Lamurde, Toungo and Mubi North local government areas.
“The month of December 2025 has been one of the most intensive and productive operational periods in the recent history of this command. We struck at the heart of the drug trade in our state with unprecedented force and precision,” Abubakar said.
He stressed that tackling drug abuse requires collective effort and called on traditional and religious leaders to support the agency by sensitising their communities.
Abubakar attributed the successes recorded to the leadership and vision of the NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive, retired Brigadier General Mohamed Marwa, describing his approach as dynamic and result-oriented.
