The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has issued a warning to federal and state-owned tertiary institutions regarding the submission of inaccurate and incomplete data for the student loan scheme. The agency emphasized the importance of providing complete and accurate information to facilitate the proper functioning of the Student Verification System (SVS).
In a statement by Nasir Ayitogo, Head of Media and Public Relations, NELFUND announced that it would publish a full list of institutions that have submitted their complete student data on June 24. This move aims to ensure transparency and encourage participation from both undergraduate applicants and tertiary institutions.

The statement highlighted that many federal institutions have already completed the exercise, with their data currently being uploaded to the NELFUND SVS. The agency urged state-owned institutions to follow suit, noting that accurate and complete data is crucial for seamless applicant verification. Failure to provide such data could invalidate the application process and disadvantage applicants.
NELFUND also stressed the importance of matching key details such as Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) numbers, matriculation numbers, admission numbers, and applicants' full names and dates of birth. Accurate data entry by applicants, especially regarding email addresses, was also underscored. The agency expressed satisfaction with the cooperation received from tertiary institutions nationwide.
