New PDP Chairman Kabiru Turaki Promises Reforms, End to Impunity

The newly elected Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kabiru Turaki, has pledged to rebuild the party by restoring internal democracy and putting an end to impunity.

Speaking during his acceptance speech on Saturday in Ibadan, Oyo State, Turaki acknowledged the huge responsibility before him but expressed confidence in the party’s ability to reposition itself.

“The task ahead is not a simple one. Our party is at a crossroads, but we are ready and fully prepared for the challenge,” he said.

Turaki, a former Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, revealed that the new executive team will soon release a detailed blueprint outlining its goals and leadership approach.

“Very soon, we will roll out our guiding principles and how we intend to operate. Once that is done, we’ll hit the ground running from day one,” he assured party members.

He emphasised that he would not take his mandate lightly, noting that the PDP’s enduring identity reflects its deep roots among the Nigerian people.

“The PDP remains the only major political party that has kept its name. This is because it belongs to the people. We’re returning the party back to you — there will be no more impunity,” he declared.
