The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has made significant arrests in Lagos State as part of its ongoing efforts to combat crime, apprehending multiple suspects involved in murder, armed robbery, and illegal possession of firearms.
In a statement on Sunday, Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the latest operations, carried out between February 5 and 7, 2025, reflect the police’s commitment to national security and crime prevention.
Illegal Arms Recovered
On February 7, officers from the Satellite Division arrested Wisdom Obi (24) at Abule Ado bus stop along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
Obi was riding an unregistered motorcycle when police stopped him for a routine check and found a brownie pistol and 13 rounds of live ammunition concealed in an MP3 radio.
“The suspect was taken into custody, and the motorcycle and recovered items were documented as exhibits. Investigation is ongoing,” the police statement read.
Traffic Robbery Foiled
Also on February 7, police officers from the Orile Iganmu Division arrested four suspected traffic robbers while they were attempting to rob passengers from a broken-down vehicle at Ascon White Sand area.
The suspects, identified as Kadir Ibrahim, Ifeanyin John, Oduwole Shola, and Rilwan Olajuwon, were caught in the act and taken into custody.
The police cautioned citizens to be vigilant in traffic, as criminals often disguise themselves as street traders before attacking unsuspecting individuals.
Murder Suspect in Custody
On February 5, police operatives from the Ikoyi Division responded to a murder case at Falomo Square, Ikoyi.
A dispute between Okeke Johnchris (33) and William Wisdom escalated into violence when Okeke allegedly used his Lexus saloon car to ram into William, causing fatal injuries.
“William was rushed to Gbagada General Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries,” the police statement said.
The suspect has been arrested and remains in police custody pending further investigation and arraignment in court.
Police Warn Against Violence
The Nigeria Police Force urged the public to avoid violent confrontations and instead seek legal means to resolve disputes.
“The Nigeria Police Force cautions citizens against taking the law into their hands and encourages those aggrieved to seek redress through the proper legal channels,” the statement emphasized.
The Force Headquarters in Abuja reassured Nigerians of its commitment to security and crime prevention, urging cooperation from the public to maintain law and order.
