On Monday, April 8, some parts of Nigeria experienced a partial solar eclipse, a rare celestial event where the moon partially obscures the sun's disk. Enthusiasts across the country took to social media to share their experiences and stunning visuals of the phenomenon.

Residents in Oyo and Kano states were among those who witnessed the partial eclipse. Videos and photos circulated online captured the crescent-shaped sun as the moon passed between the sun and the earth, creating a mesmerizing sight.

One social media user shared a video from Kano State, urging others to look up and witness the event. Another individual also captured a striking image of the partial eclipse in Kano state, showcasing the beauty of the celestial alignment.

A photographer shared a photo from Irepo Local Government in Oyo state, adding to the collection of images documenting this rare astronomical event.

According to the National Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA), a total solar eclipse occurs when the moon completely blocks the sun, casting a shadow on the earth. While Nigeria only experienced a partial eclipse, countries like the United States, Mexico, and Canada were treated to a full eclipse, where the sun was completely obscured by the moon.
