In recent operations in Zamfara and Katsina states, Nigerian Army troops have successfully eliminated a total of 11 terrorists. The operations, targeting terrorist kingpin enclaves, resulted in significant gains against terrorism in the region.
In Zamfara, troops raided the hideout of terrorist leader Hassan Yantagwaye in the Tsafe Local Government Area, engaging in a gun battle that led to the neutralization of Yantagwaye and two of his associates. This successful operation also resulted in the recovery of a substantial cache of arms and ammunition.
Similarly, in Katsina State, troops engaged terrorists in a fierce gun battle across several locations, including Shawu Kuka, Shinda, Tafki, Gidan Surajo, and Citakushi in Kabai I and Kabai II within Faskari Local Government Area. This engagement led to the death of eight terrorists and the recovery of three locally-fabricated guns, military uniforms, and a significant quantity of stolen grains.
In addition to these operations, troops captured an armed fighter in Ebonyi State and intercepted a large quantity of illicit drugs in Ogun State. The vigilance and effectiveness of the Nigerian Army in these operations demonstrate a strong commitment to combating terrorism and ensuring the safety and security of the country.
