The Nigerian Army has withdrawn its officials from the Okuama community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State. Governor Sheriff Oborevwori confirmed the withdrawal during a phone conversation with the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, on Monday, May 6.

The withdrawal follows the military's invasion of Okuama following the killing of 17 soldiers by assailants suspected to be members of the community. The Nation reported on the incident, which sparked tensions in the area. The withdrawal of the army officials suggests a de-escalation of the situation in Okuama.
