Residents reported that the attackers stormed Magumeri community around 1:15am on motorcycles, firing shots into the air and forcing people to flee before setting several buildings ablaze.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Nahum Daso, said no life was lost.
He explained, “On the 23rd of November, at about 1:15am, unknown gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram invaded Magumeri town and burnt down some houses and vehicles. However, they did not kill anyone.”
He added that security agencies quickly moved in and restored calm.
The Executive Chairman of Magumeri, Abubakar Abdulkadir Yaro, also confirmed that the attackers sneaked into the town late Saturday night and fled around 3am after being overwhelmed by security forces.
“Unfortunately, they set ablaze residential houses and other property. But no life was lost,” he said.

According to him, troops, Civilian JTF, hunters, and volunteers worked together to push back the attackers.
Residents equally praised the security operatives for their swift response.
One eyewitness, Ibrahim Hassan, said the attack was clearly coordinated.
“From the way they came in, you could tell it was planned. They started chasing people and setting fire to homes, vehicles, and shops. Many of us were asleep until the noise woke us, and we had to run for safety,” he said.
He added that security forces arrived immediately after the attack and have since maintained surveillance in the area.
The incident is one of several attacks recorded in Borno in recent weeks.
In response to the renewed violence, Governor Babagana Zulum on Saturday declared Monday, November 24th, as a state-wide day of fasting and prayer, calling for divine intervention.
